
Educational institutions across the state organised webinars, seminars, talks and other activities for students and faculty members.
FAC: Research Development and Seminar Committee, Fazl Ali College (FAC) Mokokchung on October 8 organised an online expert talk on minor, major research grant proposal titled, “How to write a good project proposal”.
The college stated that the talk was aimed to acquaint its faculty members with comprehensive insights on the effective execution of an academic project and research grant proposal. Resource person, head of the department of biotechnology and director (academics) Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, professor Mohammad Zahid Ashraf, emphasized that the foremost thing while proposing a research grant was to be mindful of the funding agency’s instructions. He stated that a good grant proposal involves both – a good researchable question and simple feasible and creative solution(s).
The resource person also elaborated on the common technicalities of writing a grant proposal, as in writing and following prescribed formats, presentation of ideas, proofreading and respecting deadlines.
In preparation for NAAC Assessment, FAC also conducted online interactive session on NAAC peer team visit with IQAC team of Dimapur Government College (DGC) on October 7.
On October 6, FAC also organised a seminar on interdepartmental webinar on “COVID-19: Chemical preventive measures and drug developments”.
Resource person, FAC assistant professor, department of chemistry, Dr.Imliwati Longkumer talked about SARS-CoV-2 virus and its mechanism of entry and replication in the host cell. He explained how chemistry as a discipline played key role from understanding viral structure to development of chemical preventive measures and drugs for COVID-19.
SJC: Department of Education, St John College (SJC), Dimapur, organised webinar on “Role and Responsibilities of Students: With special reference to Naga Society”, on October 1 with SDO (Civil) Mokokchung, Sentilong Ozukum.
A press release by SJC stated that Ozukum imparted many valuable lessons to students and highlighting on planning for life goal. He reminded the students that their main priority was to learn.
PWC: Two-day virtual “capacity building and personality development” programme on October 7-8 was organised by Internal Quality Assessment Cell (IQAC) and Women Development Cell, Pranabananda Women’s College (PWC) Dimapur in collaboration and sponsorship of National Commission for Women (NCW) India.
A press release by PWC stated that the resource persons were assistant professors (department of English) PWC, Sanjukta Bhattacharjee, Rupa Dutta and Meyisangla Jamir.
The resource persons enlightened the student participants about “personal capacity building”, “professional career skills” and “digital literacy and effective use of social media”.
St. Joseph Univ: Rural camp for master of rural development and bachelors of social work was organised by department of social work, St. Joseph University, Dimapur on October 1-8 at Nkialwa Village under Peren district and Liphayan Village under Wokha district.
A press release by SJU stated that main aim of the camp was to provide an opportunity to the student to gain practical skills and get experience of rural life. During the camp, students were conducted various tasks such as tree plantation and cleanliness drive to promote the importance of individual responsibilities in safeguarding biodiversity. A survey was conducted on “socio-economic, health and education status of the village”.
MC: Modern College celebrated its 23rd freshers’ day on October 9 with assistant vice-president and head of financial analytics, Maybank, Malaysia, Vijay Joseph Kapanee as special guest.
IC: Debate Club, Immanuel College (IC) in collaboration with the Department of English organised debate competition on October 9 at the College Conference Hall on the topic “Naga solution: A myth or a reality”. college informed that the debate competition was organised with the objective of inculcating students with issues pertaining to present political scenario of the state.
