Reacting to the alleged abduction of two leaders of Chop village under Longding district, Arunachal Pradesh by cadres of Angmai faction of NSCN (K) on November 28 last, Global Naga Forum (GNF) has appealed for their release, adding that it would be befitting the season of peace and mercy that Naga Christians were commemorating at this time of the year.
The forum stated that recent events along Indo-Myanmar border have unfolded in a way that has put the fate of the two village leaders in a precarious place. GNF said their situation struck at the very core of Naga people’s shared humanity and peoplehood. The forum expressed the view that “this matter goes beyond political affiliations”. “It appeals to our basic human capacity for forethought and mercy toward one another for the sake of the longer implications on the Naga society as a whole,” GNF stated. GNF, therefore, appealed to the group, responsible for abduction, to release them without further delay.
