The three-day long 84th Annual Sports Meet 2024 of Kigwema Youth Organization (KYO) at Kholera Ground, Kigwema, under Kohima district, concluded on Saturday. In the football final on Saturday, Merama khel defeated Seca khel to emerge as the champion while in volleyball, Khamima khel clinched both men’s and women’s categories.
Earlier, the main highlight of the sports meet was the Naga wrestling held on Thursday where Kekheneito Kere of Khamima emerged as the champion while Kekhrie Yhoshü, Ketouvilie Kere and Kheseto Zütso took the second, third and fourth positions respectively.
The winning teams and sportspersons will represent the village in the forthcoming Southern Angami Sports Association tournament scheduled to be held in February.
Following a brief prize distribution ceremony, a new team of office bearers of Kigwema Youth Organization for the tenure 2024-2026 was announced. The new team will be led by Nephrezo Thorie as president, Thejangulie Yakhro as vice president, Asale Yhoshü as general secretary, Tepfükhoto Yano as joint and information & publicity secretary, Kuzole Neihu as games & sports secretary (men), Athono Sale as games & sports secretary (women), Saleto Yhoshü as treasurer, Necgüto Zhasa as social & cultural secretary, and Vilebezo Phira as property secretary while outgoing president Zakievilie Yhoshü will serve as advisor.
