Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has backed the recent statement made by Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) regarding issue of multiple taxations and harassment faced by business community in Dimapur by various Naga national political groups.

In a press note, WSH media cell pointed out that the continuous harassment and imposition of multiple taxations on business community by various Naga political groups have become a major impediment to the growth and development of businesses in Dimapur.
It pointed out that the business community has been facing intimidation and summon letters, which was impeding their ability to operate and thrive.

WSH said that DCCI had rightly warned that if the unabated multiple taxation, intimidation, and summons were not stopped immediately, it would go for indefinite shutter down.
“This is a serious threat to the economic stability and sustainability of Dimapur, and action must be taken to address this issue,” WSH stated. Further, the hoho also supported DCCI’s stand and calls for an immediate end to the harassment and imposition of multiple taxations.

Pointing out that the business community plays a vital role in the economic growth and development of any region, WSH said it was imperative for business community to operate without fear of extortion and harassment.

In this regard, the hoho urged all concerned authorities and Naga political groups to come together to address this issue and ensure the safety and security of the business community in Dimapur. “We stand in solidarity with the DCCI and the business community and call for an end to multiple taxations and harassment,” it added.
