United Sangtam Student’s Conference (USSC) has appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Kiphire for urgent need to relocate the public helipad at Kiphire to a new site.
In a letter to DC Kiphire, USSC executive chairman Aketo V Sangtam and president Sethrongba Y. Sangtam, reminded the June 6, 2024 letter, emphasizing that the current helipad’s in the heart of the town poses significant obstruction to public development initiatives, including construction of high-rise buildings like administrative and private infrastructure such as the District Treasury Office, District Industries Office, and various educational and religious institutions.
They appeal for prioritizing the process for identifying and approval of a suitable alternative site outside the town to facilitate systematic urban expansion and modernization. While extending support and collaboration for facilitate the process, the union expressed hope that prompt action would greatly benefit the community and ensure sustainable growth for the district.
