
ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Phek organized a vaccination cum animal health check up on September 3 at Pholami village under Pfutsero block.
Mithuns of the village were vaccinated against Foot and Mouth Diseases (FMD) and health check-up was done. FMD is a highly contagious disease of viral origin and known to inflict huge economic loss among the mithun farmers of the state.
The team was led by SMS (Animal Science), KVK-Phek, Dr. Debojyoti Borkotoky and ACTO, NRCM, Dr P.R. Dutta assisted by staff Vevo, supporting staff, KVK-Phek. Ear tags were applied to the calves and adult animals to keep proper records and identification.
On constant motivation and demonstration by KVK-Phek, the mithun farmers of the village have taken to regular vaccination and other prophylactic care of their animals.
The Pholami mithun farmers also expressed their sincere gratitude to the director, ICAR-NRC on Mithun and programme coordinator, ICAR-KVK, NRC on Mithun, Porba, Phek and for extending such a valuable service to the mithun farmers and the village.
MEDZIPHEMA: Department of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry (mobile veterinary clinic) organized a free medical health camp at Medziphema village from August 23 to 24.
The camp was conducted by doctors and staff from Dimapur and Kohima led by DLDO Dimapur, Dr. Imomanen Tzudir. Vaccination of anti rabies (dogs), FMD (Cattle & buffaloes), swine fever (Pigs) were done besides treatment and distribution of medicines for the livestock and poultry free of cost.
