Nagaland Legislators’ Forum on AIDS (NLFA) has informed it has “unanimously” resolved that Church would play a pivotal role for prevention of HIV in the State through extensive advocacy programmes.
In a press note, state consultant, NLFA, Dr. Vinito L. Chichi, stated the forum intends to reach out to all tribal churches in towns and villages.
In this effort all executive secretaries of 20 Baptist Association and four associate members will be involved, while other denominations would be covered in a phased manner, NLFA stated.
The forum said it would also extend advocacies among other faith based organisations such as Hindu and Muslim communities.
NLFA stated the resolution was a revival of NBCC policy of March 16, 2007, which was long overdue for implementation.
Meanwhile, the forum extended its gratitude to the legislators for their “concern and support in this endeavour keeping an eye on Adult Prevalence Ratio 0.78% and General Population Prevalence Rate 1.29% as of June 2016 (NSACS data).”
