Terming the report that three ministers were entangled over transfer and posting in Peren district, PS to minister planning T.R. Zeliang described it as “a story of much ado about nothing” and an attempt to create misunderstanding among the ministers through sensationalism by “some politically motivated individuals.”
The PS asserted that planning minister T.R. Zeliang used his prerogative over transfer and posting of two staff under DIS Peren as it was a matter of public importance, when Mrs Kikwetna requested the minister for retention at the DIS office Peren subsequent to her promotion. The PS said the minister accordingly recommended he case to the minister of school education while pointing that the minister was not aware of the  “mutual transfer” and neither was there any alleged forgery of signature when papers were placed before him for recommendation.
The PS said this was “normal practice” for a legislator to recommend for transfer or retention of any employee under his constituency “in the interest of the people” and therefore, denied any “entangled tussle” between the ministers.
Further, it was pointed out that posts of UDAs are transferable regardless of who was senior or junior.
The PS said the  planning minister accepted the decision of the school education minister for accommodating both incumbents in the DIS office “at this juncture as a kind gesture” adding that both parties should have been content “instead of bringing in more complication by going to the press”. The PS asserted that the minister of planning was prepared to write for a fresh order if any of the parties had any grievance after agreeing to the decision of the school education minister and implicating the ministers  “in a mere transfer case”.
