Several incidents have been reported in the past where innocent passengers traveling by bus/train, were robbed at various places in Assam. The modus operandi was to lace food items with sleep inducing drugs offered to unsuspecting passengers or injecting it into cold drinks sold to victims. A Naga passenger traveling with his wife had the terrible experience when someone sprayed a liquid from the back, on the wife’s neck at Guwahati railway station. The liquid caused terrible burning and itching sensation. When the husband tried to help his hand also came into contact with the liquid and was also afflicted. However, the miscreants could not steal their belongings. There were also reports of passengers who were drugged after eating food items offered by some kind person or after drinking cold drinks sold in packs.
