Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) 8 Western Angami A/C stated that it was still awaiting “full justice” in electoral malpractice issue and action against culprits involved.
In a press release, NDPP 8 Western Angami A/C president, Vitsalhou Kesiezie, stated that under 8 Western Angami A/C at least 32 cases of forged postal ballots were detected, which were casted in the name of some NDPP party office bearers, students, farmers and even a deceased person.
NDPP unit stated that all those living persons against whom forged postal ballots were casted were deprived from exercising their franchise.
It said that this compelled the aggrieved voters to file FIR with the North Police Station Kohima and also the NDPP candidate and the party to submit representations to DC&RO Kohima and CEO Nagaland with copy endorsed to the ECI for redressal of grievances.
NDPP unit, however, said that it was keenly observing the steps being taken by CEO and DC Kohima, who were fully aware of the issue.
It said that DC and his officers had acknowledged the commissions and omissions, which had occurred under their office. The unit stated that police investigation was reportedly on, but there was no any justice done till date.
Asserting that NDPP was not against any particular individual or party, the unit, however, stated that they cannot and would not let an issue of such importance for the state to go unheeded, which would prove to be too costly for the future of the state.
NDPP unit, therefore, reiterated that the particular matter must be addressed and justice delivered without further delay. Failure to do so, the unit cautioned that it would be left with no other option but to put the whole responsibility on DC Kohima “under whose office all these corrupt practices took place.”
Meanwhile, the NDPP unit appreciated the Election Commission and the state government for taking disciplinary actions against ADC and RO of Tening A/C. It, however, said that people under Peren A/C were yet to get justice. The unit said that there was gross injustice meted out against NDPP candidate from 7 Peren A/C by “ill motivated and unscrupulous officials on duty.”
NDPP unit also said under 9 Kohima Town A/C, many duplicate voter identity slips identical to the original ones were detected and seized from the possession of rival NPF party workers, which compelled the authorities to conduct re-poll.
