Deputy commissioner Mon, Dinesh Kumar IAS inaugurated a mini-agro processing unit at Longwa, Mon district on July 16.
The construction of the mini unit consisting of processing machines such as soya and maize grinder, vegetable and potato slicers, juice press, mustard oil extractor, bottling and packaging were funded by World Bank through national agricultural innovative project on the theme livelihood improvement and empowerment of rural poor through sustainable farming systems.
Speaking at the inaugural function, the chief guest appreciated the NAIP team SASRD, Nagaland University for doing a commendable job in empowering the poor farmers towards modern farming technologies.
He also encouraged the villagers to avail and utilize the available facilities and further emphasized on the importance of developing co-ordination between the farmers and agri-allied departments through such project.
The programme was chaired by Prof. Alemla, the co-principal investigator of the project, who also highlighted on the activities of NAIP.
Pastor, Longwa Baptist Church said the dedication prayer.
Dr. Sapu Changkija delivered the welcome speech and vote of thanks by Dr. L. Daiho.
The programme was attended by HODs and officials Mon district, Deputy Commandant 6 Assam Rifle Longwa post, village council members and SHG members.
