As part of the sanitation drive on account of World Malaria Day to be observed on April 25, the Kumlong Environment Committee (KEC) conducted a cleanliness drive on April 16 where youths from the seven clubs in Kumlong ward had actively participated and cleaned the locality.
Cleanliness drive was initiated as part of the Swachh Bharat Ahbiyan, where youths had filled up potholes, cleaned the drains and put up banners about cleanliness. The ward cleanliness competition was organized by the SBA committee in Mokokchung town.
The Kumlong Environment Committee (KEC) was formed in 2012 by the Kumlong ward council. Ever since it was formed, the KEC has been undertaking various activities like putting up dustbins, conducting social works etc. In 2014, the Kumlong Ward was also adjudged as the cleanest ward by the authorities.
Meanwhile, the Kumlong Environment Committee chairman, KilangsashiAier has expressed gratitude to all the seven clubs in Kumlong for actively participating in the cleanliness drive. He added that such cleanliness activities would be undertaken even in the future and therefore solicited the citizens to continue their support to make Kumlong a clean, environment friendly and beautiful colony in the town.
