All electricity consumers under electrical sub- division no-1 Kohima have been informed that disconnection of defaulting and illegal/unauthorized consumers has commenced with effect from July 25 as notified earlier by the executive engineer, electrical division, Kohima. During this exercise conducted between July 25 to August 1, altogether 238 lines were disconnected due to non-payment/unauthorized power tapping. Stating this disconnection process would continue, Er. Mhonlumo Kikon, SDO, electrical sub division no-1, Kohima in a press release requested all consumers to pay their arrears and bills on time in order to avoid disconnection and inconvenience. Illegal/unauthorized use of electricity would invite penalty in the form of fine/imprisonment or both as per Electricity Act 2003, said Kikon and urged consumers to desist from such activities.
