All electricity consumers under electrical sub-division no-1 Kohima have been informed that disconnection of defaulting and illegal/unauthorized consumers has commenced with effect from July 25 to August 1. Altogether 238 consumers were disconnected due to non-payment/ unauthorized power tapping. Stating that this process would continue, the SDO electrical sub-division no-1, Kohima Er. Mhonlumo Kikon, in a press release, requested all consumers to pay their arrears and bills on time in order to avoid disconnection and inconvenience. Illegal/unauthorized use of electricity would invite penalty in the form of fine/imprisonment or both as per Electrical Act 2003, said Kikon and urged consumers to desist from such activities.
