Rilan Village Council (RVC) has protested on the alleged frequent “intrusions” by Assam Police (AP) into the village without any prior information. In a press statement, RVC chairman, Nribemo Ovung claimed that AP with fully armed have been “passing through the village for the past three days, raising apprehension among the villagers”. RVC alleged that AP were accompanied by Assam Rifles during their visits. Reiterating that Rilan village has no connection whatsoever with the development activities at Daldali reserve forest, the RVC said it has no problem so long as AP restrict its movements within its own jurisdiction. RVC therefore urged the State government to intervene, before the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in the village is disturbed.
