Tikhir Students’ Union (TSU) during a “goodwill initiative” to Shamator village on March 26 has appealed to the state government to take necessary measures so that prevailing law and order situation could be resolved at the earliest.
TSU president, Longkamse. S also cautioned that prolonging situation could hinder the developmental activities and peaceful co-existence of citizens in the area. He alleged that despite the visit by various NGOs including ENPO, PACC, NBCC, ENSF and Naga Hoho for peaceful co-existence in Shamator sub-division, the Tikhir community from Shamator village were not permitted to purchase basic goods and commodities from Shamator town.
Advisor to TSU, Jongyanthong has also appealed to the Shamator citizens to bear with all the “anomalies” around the area by maintaining a cordial relation with the neighbouring villages. Meanwhile, TSU goodwill mission donated 70 bags of rice, 5 bags of salt and first aid medicine to the villagers and displaced families from Shamator town in the presence of EAC Shamator, DSP 11th IR, Shamator village council, and village elders. Meanwhile, EAC Shamator Vejoyo Swuro expressed gratitude to TSU for their goodwill mission and encouraged Tikhir organizations and citizens to co-operate with the government agencies so that law and order situation could be “avoided” at the earliest.
TSU also acknowledged the district administration of Kiphire, VG Kiphire, Shamator administration, 10th IR jawans and all the individuals for their support during the team’s goodwill initiative.
