
Strong winds that resulted in falling of trees on Sunday caused scattered power outages in Kohima and parts of Dimapur.
When contacted, Kohima power department sources said that power lines were snapped in four areas. However, they said that linemen were already on the job to restore power supply. In Dimapur, power cables were snapped in some areas, disturbing normal power supply since morning.
Longleng: As many as three houses were damaged as strong wind lashed parts of Longleng district since Sunday morning.
There were no reports of any casualty or injuries at the time of filing the report.
In Agri Colony, Longleng three houses and a vehicle were extensively damaged while the roof of the rostrum at local ground was blown away by the wind.
A brick wall beside the house was also brought down by the wind while tree branches partially damaged several houses. The wind also damaged several houses in the district. Power supply to the entire district was cut off as high rise cables were pulled down at many places due to the wind. One Mahindra Bolero was also partially damaged.
Meanwhile, one house was reduced to ashes in a devastating fire at Nyengching colony. The fire reportedly broke out from the kitchen at around 10.30 am.
Fire fighters had a harrowing time to douse the fire due to the strong wind, source said. It took several hours for the two fire tenders to bring the fire under control and from spreading further.
