Nagaland (Independent) Sainik School Company NCC at Sainik School, Punglwa conducted NCC combined annual training camp – III at Sainik School, Punglwa from November 2 to 11. A total of 161 cadets of junior as well as senior division from Sainik School attended the camp, where collective training was imparted to cadets giving them an opportunity to experience community living. It also educated them and created awareness on recent challenging issues and aspects, of contemporary social relevance. It also aimed at inculcating leadership qualities, esprit de corps, camaraderie and sportsmanship amongst the cadets. The cadets appeared for the ‘A’ and ‘B’ certificate examinations of the NCC on November 8, which would benefit them for additional avenues of employment in the Armed Forces and various central services, as also for pursuing higher education. Several intercompany training activities (on various subjects according to the NCC Curriculum), firing and drill, basketball, volleyball, cross country, tug of war, tent pitching and cultural competitions were held to help cadets expand their knowledge frontiers and develop their expressive skills. Cadet Atovika of ‘C’ Company was adjudged as ‘Best Cadet’ of the camp. ‘A’ Company, commanded by Lt. Sunil Kumar ANO emerged as overall champion.
All together 50 cadets received certificates of merit in different competitions held during the 10 days camp, with Gp. Capt Sanjay Gaekwad, principal Sainik School Punglwa as chief guest in the formal closing camp fire cum cultural evening celebration on November 21.
