Summer art workshop for kids organized by Hope Centre for Excellence Dimapur and North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) conducted was held from July 21-28 with Aditi Chitre a renowned artist/animation film maker from Mumbai at Hope Centre for Excellence, Kuda village Dimapur.
The valedictory service Friday was attended by Tali Nokcha joint director NEZCC and Tara Douglas, secretary of Adivasi Arts Thrust (AAT) who is in Nagaland for filming an Angami folklore.
Speaking at the programme, Zubeno Mozhui director Hope Centre for excellence said training the kids was a huge responsibility for all the teachers and trainers, but at the same time, glad the programme was a huge success.
She also thanked NEZCC for sponsoring the event and for their unflinching support ever since the its inception.
Also speaking to media persons, Aditi Chitre renowned artist/animation film maker said that after visiting Nagaland for five times, she noticed that art was not included in the school’s curriculum. While lauding the Naga kids for their incredible talent in the field of art, she said kids should be encouraged so as to get exposure for their talents.
She also viewed that in Nagaland, parents do not encourage their children to specialize in arts, unlike other metros in spite of their imaginative and creative ideas.
Stating that art should not have any restrictions as there is no correct or incorrect thing in expressing art, she said “Art is about personal expression which is taught without any restriction” and hoped the kids would be bold enough to express their ideas or talents through attending this workshop.
Chitre also disclosed that painting, animation, articulation and observation among others were taught at the workshop.
It may be mentioned that Chitre made a film titled ‘Journey in Nagaland’.
Altogether twenty four children participated at the workshop with the youngest being seven years. The participants who were felicitated are Sophia Mozhui, Kekhrieseno Kevichusa, Milovi H Zhimomi, Nilika H Zhimomi, Therovino Savino, Abibeni Ngullie, Vilonica Assumi, Ruuze Peseyie, Jesheto Jakha, Joshua Jakha, Megotsolie Khate, Ku Mero, Tato Swu, Imcha, Vizekhol Luhu, Bodevi savino, Keneisavi Solo, Ruokuovituo Usuo, Kilangnukshi Longkumer, Roviche, Tokiyevi K Yepthomi, Akumlong Lonchar, Imtikumzuk Imsong and Temjen Yanger Lonchar.
Earlier, certificates were handed out to the participants by Tara Douglas and Tali Nokcha respectively.
Later, the paintings, sketch, kids workbook and claymation film created by kids were displayed for the visitors and guest.
