The general meeting of the Nagaland Senior Government Employees Welfare Association (NSGEWA) held on June 25, at the Office complex at Khonoma Rupfuno Building (D Block) Kohima was well attended by members of all the district units.
The chairman of the association presided over the meeting. Two minutes silence was observed in remembrance of all the deceased members.
According to NSGEWA joint secretary, P. Vese and vice chairman, Imkokngyapang, the meeting deliberated on issues relating to non-finalization of pension/final GPF and other pension benefits of its members who were forced to retire without any advance preparation.
The house also deliberated on untold economic hardships faced by its members due to the Nagaland Retirement from Public Service Act, 2009 by the state government.
NSGEWA reiterated that cases of untold suffering in university/college/school drop-out etc., of children of retired employees, mortgages of property/final GPF/pension, mental trauma, and demise of retired member without enjoying the pension benefits are being reported from across the state.
The house after thorough deliberation, resolved to help members facing dilemma with regard to pension/final GPF or any other pension benefits. Members desirous of assistance have been asked to contact the office of NSGEWA from Monday to Wednesday, between 11am to 1pm.
Further, the house re-affirmed its previous resolution to collect membership of Rs. 500 per member for 2010 and 2011 from its members.
