Knapsack sprayers for farmers

ATMA Wokha block opened a farm school on mixed farming at Santsupen, Longsachung on July 19 inaugurated by Sanny Pongener, district sericulture officer in the presence of ATMA supporting officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Pongener stressed on the importance of such farm schools by citing an example of Eri farm school Yikhum, where a dozen households depend on Eri rearing as their sole livelihood. He also encouraged the farm school students to emulate them and become self dependent.
Dr. Monchan Shitiri encouraged the farmers to adopt the concept of farm school. Later in the technical session, Yanglen DPD and Lideno SMS spoke on the concept of farm school and mixed farming respectively.
Key management practices on pests and diseases of paddy and banana was explained by Tiatula BTM and management technique on pig cum fish culture was delivered by Mhomo SMS.
Earlier, the program was chaired by Tseyimo BBT convener and vote of thanks by Thungyamo, teacher farmer.
Knapsack sprayers, neem oil and IMC fry stage were distributed to the student farmers and teacher farmer. Altogether 25 farmers and 9 officials attended the program.
