The State Government has asked the village authorities of Beisampuikam to remove the bamboo spikes from the village gate and modify the gate so as to convey a friendly and welcoming message to others using the same road.
In a communiqué issued by chief secretary, Nagaland Lalthara stated that after careful consideration on the nature of village gate erected by the Beisumpuikam village and referred to as ‘war gate’ by the Western Sumi Hoho and others, the State government found that the gate with its bamboo spikes sticking out all over does not convey a friendly or welcoming message to the visitors and passersby as being normally expected of a traditional Naga village gate.
The State government further asked the deputy commissioner Peren to convey the message to the village authorities of Beisampuikam village and to the leaders of Zeliangrong Baudi and to persuade them to go along the advice.
