A 13-year old Adivasi boy, Raju Ninu residing near Bethel Prayer Home, Nuton Bosti Dimapur was allegedly kidnapped by two unidentified men near Zinyü Gas Agency Circular Road on Monday evening at around 3:30pm. While interacting with this reporter, Raju Ninu said he was wadded with a drugged handkerchief the by two non-local (Assamese speaking) men while he was on his way to play cricket with his friends on Monday evening after school.
After regaining conscious, Raju said he found himself locked up in the bathroom of a train (Mariani-Lumding Express) that was on its way to Guwahati. Though all his attempts to escape from the clutches of the kidnappers turned futile, fortunately one lady, whose children also study in the same school as Raju, instantly recognized the boy and rescued him. The two accused tried to flee but were caught by the passengers on the train and later handed to Diphu railway police, narrated Raju. The boy was handed by the Diphu railway police to Dimapur railway police on Tuesday.
While an enquiry was made with the Dimapur railway police, they disclosed that the case could not be registered as the OC of GRPS Diphu could not be contacted.
