MLA and advisor department of cooperation Imtilemba Sangtam while speaking at the interactive session with the cooperative department on July 7, asserted that people in business class were richer than salaried people. He said this was due to their solid foundation and support from cooperative banks, which provides them opportunities for investments. Sangtam regretted that other states were way ahead of Nagaland even though it had very fertile lands. He said that government schemes and funds are meant for the upliftment of the public and different departments had been created towards this end. The advisor said that each department had specific zone to cover but the cooperative department encompasses all the others. As such, he said that cooperative department’s target and responsibility should be heavier than others. The cooperative department with its cooperative bank, education wing to train people, MARCOFED and WEAFED can support many intellectual Nagas, he said. Further he appealed the department to concentrate mainly on the products of Naga society. He also said that the cooperative society needed to be reformed so as to promote the state’s own products. He urged the department to plan and work so that others could rely on the department and to help correct each other for what may have been done in a wrong way. Earlier at the programme the welcome address was said by RCS Velasa Nakro.
