Mobile service providers, except the state run BSNL, in Zunheboto completely shut-down services for the past 72 hours, after NSCN (K) allegedly essued huge “taxation demand” by ‘lt. col’ Issac Sumi.
As a result, service providers had to shut-down services due to the huge demand.
Taking serious note of the situation, Sumi frontal organisations under the aegis of Sumi Hoho, held an emergency meeting on June 21 to deliberate on the “taxation demand and shutting down of mobile towers by NSCN(K) government under the command of ‘lt. Col’ Isaac Sumi”, stated Sumi Hoho general secretary Vihuto Asumi.
Sumi Hoho, Sumi Kukami Hoho, Sumi Totimi Hoho, Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu and Zunheboto Town Youth Organisation resolved to vehemently condemn the “unlawful activities of the NSCN (K)”.
Asumi pointed out that people of Zunheboto district faced untold difficulties due to non-completion of SARDP road, left mid-day and non-pliable. The shutting down of mobile towers has completely blanked out and cut off Zunheboto from the rest of the world and only added to suffering of public, he said.
The meeting resolved “not to tolerate such unlawful and unjustified instances at the cost of public services” and therefore decided “to stand firmly against any unlawful activities by any groups or individuals in the larger interest of the people living in Zunheboto district.”
Further, the meeting also resolved to “reactivate the mobile networks” besides sending a strong message to the functionaries of Nagaland Political Groups, “not to interfere in any developmental activities in future”.
It was also resolved to reaffirm the January 7 Sumi Baghi Hoho resolution No.3: “If and when any act of violence or desecration is inflicted upon Sumi individual or community in the coming days, the entire Sumi populace will retaliate”.
The resolutions were signed by the following: Khehoshe H. Yeptho (vice president Sumi Hoho), Vihuto T. Asumi (general secretary, Sumi Hoho); K. Hukato Shohe (general secretary, Sumi Kukami Hoho); Kotoli K. Chishi (general secretary, Sumi Totimi Hoho); Khuketo Yepthomi (vice president, Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu) and Khevishe Z. Zhimomi (vice president, Zunheboto Town Youth Organisation).
