AYO non-cooperation with NSCN (K)

Angami Youth Organization (AYO) taking serious note of the April 25 firing incident in Kohima, wherein one Assam Rifles jawan was killed, has “sanctioned non-cooperation on the NSCN (K).”
In a press release, AYO president Medo Yhokha and press secretary Tsoto Sale while condemning the incident said that the decision was made in lieu with the standing order of the Angami Public Organization (APO) and also for firing in civilian populated area, thereby disturbing the peaceful atmosphere in Kohima town and creating feat psychosis in the mind of the general public.
In this regard AYO has notified public to desist from “any kind of contribution or donation to the NSCN (K) in Angami jurisdiction”. It said any kind of demand note or taxation from the NSCN (K) is to be reported to the AYO. Citizens have also been asked to refrain from extending patronage in any form to the group.
Meanwhile, AYO has warned that “any future provocative action disturbing the peaceful atmosphere/confronting the security of the citizens, the organization shall be compelled to initiate its own course of action”.
DC Kma holds meeting: Asserting that incidents particularly of attacking security forces in the civilian areas was a matter of great concern, the deputy commissioner (DC) Kohima, Rovilatuo Mor Monday said the state government needed the support and cooperation of the general public to tackle such situation.
DC Kohima held an emergency meeting with the colony chairmen, colony youth presidents and NGOs at Zonal Council Hall, Kohima April 27 in view of the prevailing law and order situation in the state capital and to ensure peace and harmony among the public.
According to an official bulletin, DC gave an overview of incidents that took place in Kohima in recent times including March 25 incident where four unarmed Assam Rifles personnel were ambushed by unknown miscreants near IG Stadium. One of them succumbed to injuries in Kolkata.
He also highlighted the series of bomb blasts that occurred at Lirie and New Minister Hills on April 15 and 16 and recently on April 25 where one Assam Rifle personnel was shot dead near the Classic Island Kohima.
Speaking at the meeting, DC Kohima said the colony authorities and the youths also needed to deliberate on how to take stock of such incidents and to give efforts to maintain peace and harmony in the respective areas.
DC also read out a resolution of the Lirie colony where every household has been urged to keep strict vigil as a precautionary measure to ward off any situation that may be detrimental to the colony and the society as a whole.
Also speaking at the meeting, SP Kohima, Joseph Hesso, requested the public to join hands with the police and the district administration to restore peace in the society. He also assured fullest assistance to the public in case of any untoward happenings.
The colony chairmen and others present at the meeting also voiced out their concern over the recent law and order situation. They expressed the need to immediately take up appropriate steps to tackle the situation. They also opined that the colonies should help and support each other so that timely intervention would ward off any untoward incidents.
At the meeting, all the 19 wards and colonies of Kohima town condemned and opposed the recent unlawful incidents. They decided to unitedly confront and fight against unwanted elements in the future. All wards also endorsed the statement of the Angami Youth Organisation following the firing incident on April 25 in Kohima.
