Christians were called to rejoice in Christ with the community of the Lord in any given circumstances knowing that Christ is the foundation of “our” life.
This message was delivered by master, Senate of Serampore College (University) Rt. Reverend Dr. John S Sadananda at the 18th graduation service of Trinity Theological College (TTC) at Thahekhü village, Dimapur.
Speaking on the topic “rejoice” Reverend Dr. Sadananda exhorted the graduating students and congregation that the theme when viewed from a Christian’s perspective delves in not just the momentary happiness but also into a profound celebration in the hope of salvation yet to be experienced.
Quoting from the book of Isaiah and II Corinthians which speaks of a joy and comfort yet to be embraced, Reverend Dr. Sadananda exposited that Christians should be permeated with bliss not only externally but also spiritually during the different spheres of life.
He said that the burning issues of the modern society could be addressed when Christians work with a firm believe that through the process of crucifixion of Christ, God has showed that he is a co-sufferer in “our” daily struggles and that “we” should look ahead to the rejoicing that is in store for us in the next life.
“Asserting that for a Christian Christ should be their constant hope, Reverend Dr. Sadananda said if one’s hope is fixed on Christ than one could hope to rejoice and build community of hope.
He also encouraged the Christians to rejoice even though if the present circumstances do not look promising and insufficient as their reason to rejoice should be in Christ.
Reverend Dr. Sadananda then called upon the Christians to “rediscover” the Bible saying the Bible should be the basis of all the Christians and Theologians.
To the graduating students, he reminded them that the church looks for Pastors and Missionaries who would build community of hope and encouraged the graduates to be firm in their belief.
Marshalls for the service were Eyingbemo Odyuo and Hulika H. Yepthomi while music in segmented scenes was presented by TTC choir.
Earlier, academic procession of the graduates was followed with invocation by Vikato Achumi, welcome address was delivered by TTC principal, Reverend Dr. Kavito Zhimo which was followed by scripture reading from Adakho Lokho and Hukheli Sema.
Proficiency awards were given away by the academic dean while SABAK executive secretary, Reverend Hotokhu Jimo, released the college magazine.
