Wokha DPDB approves upgradation of GHS Sanis

Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) has approved up-gradation of Government High School (GHS) Sanis to that of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) and Government Primary School (GPS) Koio to that of Government Middle School (GMS).

According to a DIPR report, the approval was made during monthly meeting of DPDB held August 12 in the Conference Hall of DC Wokha, under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner and vice-chairman DPDB Wokha, Vyasan R. MLA Dr. T. M. Lotha also attended the meeting.

At the meeting, assistant professor Dr. R. Chumbeno Ngullie of history and archaeology Nagaland University, presented power point presentation on “Tiyi Longchum an early settlement site”.

Tiyi Longchum is located in the mountain range of Mount Tiyi, which is one of the many ancestral sites of the Lothas.

Dr. Chumbeno after giving an elaborate presentation on the topic suggested means for preserving the ancestral site, more research should be encouraged, undertaking of excavation, construction of on site museum to promote cultural tourism.

EE (Electrical), Er. Aben Ngullie informed the board that 132 KV power line connecting Wokha has collapsed, saying department was trying its best to restore the power line as soon as possible.

He said alternative arrangement was also being made for early restoration. With regard to this, EE requested the public to bear the inconvenience.

DC reminded all heads of departments in the district to collect the work assignment for the Independence Day Celebration from his office.
