Nagaland BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has drawn attention to an news agency report wherein a senior RSS leader Dattareya Hosabale had stated that there were “no minorities in India, all are DNA-wise Hindus”.
Nagaland BJYM president Kahuto Chishi and national executive member, Pramod Singh said it was amusing that such a senior RSS leader “should utter such nonsensical statements” devoid of truth both from rational and scientific viewpoints.
Asking if Hosabale saw the reality of India, a country that professed “unity in diversity” where people from various religions, culture and race have been coexisting in harmony for hundred of years, BJYM also said Muslims, Christians, Jains and Buddhists are the minority section and also proud citizens of a secular country as enshrined in the constitution.
The Yuva Morcha said even if RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat repeated a thousand times that “all those born in India are Hindus”, there will be those who will remain Christians or Muslims who will hold on to their faith till their last breath. BJYM said it wanted to make public, that it does not subscribe to “such parochialism” either in its social or political approach. Stating that while it respected the BJP’ secular principles and ideals of governance, BJPYM however distanced itself from “short sighted remarks” that was bound to do more harm than good to the country in the long run.
It concluded by asking if DNA test can identify the religion of a person apart from the theory that all human beings were descendants of apes?
