Fish farmers trg held in Kiphire

With the objective to impart importance of intensive farming for high yield fish production, a training programme on “Prospects of aquaculture and fisheries for grass root levels” was held from March 4 to 6 at SDFO Office, Kiphire.
The training programme was organized by the department of Fisheries with keen initiative and supervisions from the staff of Sub-Divisional Fishery Officer, Kiphire.
Altogether 20 fish farmers from six villages namely Tutheze village, Pongren village, Tetheyo village, Longmatra village and Ngoro village attended the training programme. The programme was chaired by Tsayingkiu and began with an invocation prayer said by Thsapongse followed by the welcome address delivered by Tinunochet, SDFO Kiphire.
In the technical session, topics on ‘Introduction of aquaculture,’ ‘New initiative under fisheries research and development,’ ‘Impact of climate change on aquaculture and fisheries,’ ‘Technical aspects of site selection and water quality management of ponds and tanks,’ ‘Selection of fish species and its identification,’ ‘Pre-stocking and post stocking,’ ‘Soil and water quality management, feed and feeding management,’ ;Aqua farm equipments and their efficient applications,’ ‘Disease identification and management of crops,’ ‘Economics on intensive aquaculture,’ ‘Recent development in integrate and composite fish farming systems,’ ‘Prospect of value added fish products,’ ‘Prawn farming practices in the state’ and ‘Awareness on NFDB assistance/ subsidies for fisheries/ farmers/ entrepreneurs,’ and ‘Exercise on preparation on NFDB project proprosal and bankable project,’ were shared by resources persons Shrnromong, FD, Peter Yekiumong, FD, Thrilichum, FD, Tsayingkiu, FD, and Tinunochet, SDFO, respectively.
The training concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Tsayingkiu, FD.
