In the interest of public safety, Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Wezope Kenye, has today notified that no heavy vehicles would be allowed to ply on RCC Steel Girder Bridge near CIHSR (Referral Hospital) with immediate effect.
The Deputy Commissioner has issued the public notice as per recommendation after joint inspection carried out by Executive Engineer PWD (R&B), Dimapur, EAC Chumukedima, village functionaries of Naga United and Diphupar villages and the Dhansiri River Flood Control Board on February 24. The team after thorough examination concluded that the bridge, originally designed for Class-B loading single lane constructed in the year 1986, was found to be unsafe for daily commuters which requires construction of new bridge in place of the existing dilapidated bridge.
In case of small vehicles, the Deputy Commissioner said only one vehicle would be allowed to ply at a time. He further added that heavy vehicles could use the Patkai – New Showuba road.
