United Mission Society (UMS)—affiliated to government of India, national capital territory, held its “inaugural meeting” on February 16 at Kevijau village.
During the meeting ‘national president’ Reverend Johnson John deliberated on the aims and objectives of the mission and encouraged the members and staff not to give up or have a laid back attitude on the present situations of corruption, social and economical degradation and other issues prevalent. He asked them to live to the motto of the society that is “Until we have a better life”.
Reverend Johnson also emphasized on how to bring the “weaker” sections of society to the main stream especially the youths and the students and to provide all sorts of humanitarian services like modern education facility, free legal, medical and socio-economic help/assistance to the weaker section of the society as much possible by united mission with the cooperation of National, International and Government machinery.
He emphasized on the need of economical, spiritual and social quality life; to render full co-operation and help to the government and private machinery to work with the help and assistance of police and other concerned government agencies in the direction to suppress and discourage all sort of corruption or mal practices by vested interests and illegal immigrants in Nagaland.
He also asserted that one of the main objectives of the mission would be to protect the students and people of northeast against discrimination on national level with cooperation from National United Christian Front (NUCF).
The meeting was chaired by Ashang, invocation was said by mission coordinator Amenla Jamir, Supongsangla, lecturer, Public College of Commerce, Dimapur felicitated the members while vote of thanks was said by UMS Convener to Nagaland Ronnie and benediction by youth coordinator, United Mission, Pastor Ningrieshang.
