Expo at Mokokchung, Changtongya

 Two-day youth expo was held in Mokokchung coinciding with Tsungremmong festival, inaugurated by home minister Imkong L Imchen on August 1.

Coined as the best expo ever organized in Mokokchung, the expo was held at multi-purpose hall at Imkongmeren Sports Complex where 39 young entrepreneurs exhibited their products.
SHGs supported by Watsu Mungdang also participated at the expo.

The first ever inter-school entrepreneurship organized by Mokokchung Entrepreneurs Consortium was held as part of the Youth Expo.

Of the 8 higher-secondary schools that participated in the competition, Model Higher Secondary School emerged as the winner.

Jubilee Memorial Higher Secondary won the ‘Service Excellence Award’.
Sixty five entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs attended the workshop on self-employment and entrepreneurship, also conducted as part of the Youth Expo. All the participants of the workshop were also given certificates.

Apart from circulating the handbook on entrepreneuship in Mokokchung published by MEC for free, every visitor to the expo was also given a free lucky draw coupon.

The lucky draw was conducted in the presence of Lalthara, Chief Secretary of Nagaland. Local artistes also performed live music show during the expo that included seven bands and four solo artistes.

Interviews with participating entrepreneurs were also conducted during the expo which was recorded on camera.Dignitaries like Imkong L Imchen, Lalthara, and Alemtemshi Jamir, appreciated Mokokchung Entrepreneurs Consortium for organizing the expo in a grand manner.

However, the government of Nagaland granting a sum of rupees fifty lakhs to the Mokokchung Entrepreneurs Consortium albeit being on loan can be described as the best part of the expo.

The sum was granted as seed capital for setting up a microfinance institute to help struggling entrepreneurs.
Nagaland weavers association expo

Changtongya: On the event of Tsungremmong festival, Nagaland Weavers Association led by its president N.N. Kikon and general secretary B. Alemla organised a handloom and handicraft expo at local market Changtongya town on August 1 and 2. SDO (C) Changtongya and ADC designate Chubawati Chang inaugurated the two-day expo as the chief guest on August 1.

While encouraging local women weavers/participants, the chief guest on behalf of Changtongya people acknowledged the hard work of NWA for enabling the local women of Changtongya to exhibit their products by organising an expo during the festival.

During interaction, president and general secretary NWA stated 20 stalls were put up by the local women fully packed with traditional shawls and mekhelas etc.

The organiser also expressed gratitude to development commissioner for handloom, ministry of textile, New Delhi for sponsoring the event.

The organisers informed that the purpose of conducting the expo was to explore handloom products of local women, so as to uplift the local economy.
