The long awaited dream of Kiusam area has finally come true with the inauguration of a suspension bridge for light vehicles at Zingki river Tuesday.
Speaking at the programme, Er. Namang Sepong Chang who was the chief guest, said the EAC headquarter inaugurated in 1987 was facing a lot of hardship due to accessibility related issues.
However, he said with the suspension bridge transportation for medicine, goods and for conducting official duties would be minimized.
Acknowledging Kiusam public for their participation Namang said, “It is all because of the public’s participation that the bridge was completed successfully today.”
As the bridge marks the history in Kiusam area, he asked the public to participate more in developmental activities and advised them to maintain the suspension bridge time to time.
He also expressed hope that through this bridge, more relation would be built in the days to come.
L.K. Khumong public leader who also spoke at the program lauded the efforts of the leaders of the area.
Construction of 188 feet suspension bridge for light vehicles started during the month of February 2011 and was completed in July with contribution from Kiusam area public.
Seventeen villages under Kiusam area falls under Kiphire district administration and 57 Thenoknyu Assembly constituency Tuensang district.
It is located 83kms from Kiphire via Pungro town. But now, the distance would be reduced to 54kms from Kiphire via the new suspension bridge.
Meanwhile, Mark Merekiu President of the Kiusam Area GBs Association has expressed gratitude to Banuo Z. Jamir for the financial assistance through 13 Finance commission, district administration, public leaders for their support in constructing the bridge successfully.
The inauguration programme was held at Zingki river near the bridge where almost all GBs, villages councils and leaders from Kiusam area attended the programme.
Litsamong VCC Phelungre also spoke at the programme.
