Mon dist. admin assess road condition; finds no contractor, workers
Mon Correspondent Adds: District administration team led by SDO (C) Keyirangding Hgui along with E.E (PWD) Kawang, DPRO Hongpi and DBs Tuesday inspected the deteriorating road conditions and landslides along the Mon-Namtola road.

The team, however, found not a single labourer or representative of the contractor between Tuimei Village and Namtola.

It has been learnt the landslides and potholes between Tuimei Village and Namtola were filled and cleared under the initiatives of Paiwang, a politician who had to persuade and take the help of another contractor engaged in road construction between Sangsa junction (Tizit) and Arunachal Pradesh.

On enquiry, it was found out that despite several requests by the district administration & DPDB Mon, the responsible contractor was reluctant to work citing hardships caused by monsoon which had also affected the lifeline of the district.

However, Kawang EE (PWD) disclosed that after much pursuance, the contractor was expected to arrive at Mon Wednesday to continue with the work.

Meanwhile SDO (C) also disclosed that the contractors constructing two-lane road between Mon and Merangkong via Tamlu have reported to the district administration for resuming work and have also assured that they would fill up the potholes and clear all the landslides within Mon Town area.

The SDO (C) also appreciated the pro-active initiative taken by Paiwang in filling up the potholes and clearing the road.
