A group of pilots have made it to Nagaland as the first tourist to fly in straight from Thailand for the hornbill festival. The pilots who are also friends flew in with their small Piper PA46-350P private four seater aircraft. Eduadro Loi Gorri(UK) and Mike Wilson(US) Tom Pottist (Thailand) all are pilot license holders from their respective countries.
According to a release, few years back Ababe Ezung and late Neil Nawaporn (Thailand) made plans for the first hornbill fly in where eight small aircraft registered for the same. However it did not materialize due to unfortunate death of Neil who died in a plane crash in Thailand.
This year the tourists are happy that they could make and hoped for more planes to join in the comings years.
It may be noted that Tom Pottist is a professionally photographer and was one of the judge in the Hipfest Photo competition, 2014.
