One day training cum poultry birds distribution programme was organized October 8 by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur, ICAR research complex for NEH region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema in collaboration with DAN, Peren district and NABARD, Dimapur at the council hall Nkwareu village, Peren district under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP).
NABARD, regional office Dimapur general manager V. Chelladurai, who was the chief guest, appreciated KVK and ICAR Research complex for giving training and providing the poultry birds to the beneficiaries of the village.
He said people of the area were fortunate enough to avail such training, however, he said people from interior villages were not getting such opportunity.
Chief guest appealed to the farmers to work hard and prove that they could make it.
In his remark, ICAR joint director, Dr Bidyut C Deka appealed to the farmers to rear the birds at the backyard of their home for additional income from eggs and meat.
He advised the farmers to sell some of the male birds after 2-3 months as chicken and could rear female birds for egg production and could earn Rs 18,000-20,000 from 200 poultry birds in 6-7 months. DAN coordinator, Martha also spoke at the training.
Earlier, at the training programme, farmers club Deukwaram chief coordinator, Lono said the invocation, welcome address by programme coordinator KVK Dimapur, Dr. Anamika Sharma and vote of thanks was proposed by SMS animal science, KVK Dimapur, Dr. Ebibeni Ngullie.
Altogether, 35 beneficiaries attended the programme and 1800 nos of dual purpose poultry birds were distributed and 30 kg garden pea variety Arkel was also distributed to the farmers.
