One day training on integrated pest management (IPM) on Jhum paddy was conducted by department of agriculture, Kiphire at Anatonger village August 20.
At the training programme, key note address was delivered by agriculture officer Kiphire L. Vishiyi, who highlighted the integrated pest management. He urged the farmers to adopt and promote eco-friendly production system towards achieving sustainable agriculture.
At the technical session, the resource person agri. field assistant C.T. Setsipa conducted ballot box test for participants to assess knowledge of farmers in identifying the different pest and different in Rice eco-system.
In another session, agri. field assistant Yangkhumong spoke on the importance and management of rodents (rats). He also explained in detail the nature of rodent damage common rodenticides available and applications technique.
Altogether, 19 farmers attended the training programme where IPM kits such as Swap net, bags, caps and plant production chemicals were distributed free of cost to the farmers. Meanwhile, the Farmers expressed gratitude to the department of agriculture for conducting farmers training on IPM for the first time in the village.
