Abiogenesis, a folk fusion musical band from Nagaland, has mesmerised students of Down Town University with stunning performance by belting out original numbers from their album ‘Slice of Heaven’ on the occasion of the latter annual freshers day on September 6 on the bank of the mighty Brahmaputra river in Guwahati.
Presenting the opening song ‘The riverside’ from the album ‘Slice of Heaven,’ Abiogenesis set the audience spellbound demanding for more. All through the show, the students along with the faculty and VIP invitees sung along with the band on top of their lungs especially in the choruses where Naga chants like Howey were sung and war cries belted out.  The band with Arenla on vocals/ bamhum, Kora on bass, Moa on guitar/ bamhum/ harmonica and Aso on drums performed for exactly an hour from 3 to 4 p.m. They have played songs from their previous four albums which made the audience go frenzy and demanded for more when the show ended.
The Down Town Charity Trust was formed in 1997 by the Down Town Hospital Ltd. The Trust set out to start one of the largest and integrated educational campuses in the region to provide a variety of professional programmes at a reasonable fee structure. The Trust started with BSc Nursing Programme in 2008. Today, the university is offering almost 50 programmes.
