State to set up IASE during 2015

Parliamentary Secretary for SCERT and Higher Education, Deo Nukhu, today disclosed the Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (IASE) would be set up during 2015-16 in the State while he also informed that Tuensang and Mon would be given the first preference to open the next State College of Teacher Education.
Deo Nukhu made this disclosure while addressing the gathering as the chief guest during inaugural programme of 2-day orientation of District Resource Group (DRG) on Activity and Competency Learning (ACL) at DUDA Guest House, Kohima, on Wednesday. Deo Nukhu, has called upon the teachers to identify students’ area of interest and guide them rightly by bringing out the best in them for a successful life. He encouraged to do more on the activity of ACL for the benefit of the students.
Nukhu has suggested changing the nomenclature of drawing teacher to art teacher as it has more self employable opportunity. He said if more students are interested in Arts, a college can be set up in the state like that of in Myanmar (Burma) which has a full fledged Arts university. He encouraged the teachers to go for higher studies like master and doctorate courses where they have right to get study leave.
Director SCERT Nagaland, Vipralhou Kesiezie, in his address to the gathering, said ACL has more innovative idea with modification from the tradition style of teaching and learning while adding that it produced positive results for the students. He informed that 137 government schools in the state have started ACL and it would expand to 300 primary schools for the students of Classes I and II in the phase wise manner. He said the central officials who visited the State were impressed with the activities of ACL. 
Kesiezie has encouraged the concerned in-charge persons of ACL under SCERT department to go beyond the state and propagate the success story of ACL in the state. He said the success of ACL implementation depend on firm participation and involvement of the teachers. He has expressed great hope on the trainees to show positive impact on the students.
Speaking to this correspondent on the sideline of the programme Kevi Liegise, Project Director of SCERT, said ACL is a joyful and meaning learning for the students. He said much have been talked about creative learning but without much positive results. He however, said ACL has helped a lot to the students in learning. He said ACL activities have attracted students to the schools and it becomes a success story growing from strength to strength.
Liegise said the department has challenges of rapid expansion and setting up of ACL institutes. He said under ACL activities, traditional education system has discarded up to Class II and replaced with better methods of activities like chart and card display, playing materials and others where children learned best with activity.                 
The programme was chaired by Kevi Liegise, Project Director SCERT, while brief report on ACL activities was presented by Thungchibemo, Member Secretary ACL, and concluding remarks was said by the chairman.
Around 40 teachers from the 11 districts attended the programme. The resource persons for the 2-day workshops were Kevi Liegise, Project Director SCERT; Thunchibemo, Reader and Member Secretary ACL; Vikidono, Reader SCERT; and Khriesenuo Solo, Research Associate SCERT.
