Set against the backdrop of recent firing incidents from Assam side along the Dimapur- Karbi Anglong border area, two groups of Nagas exchanged sporadic weapons fire at around 5.15 p.m. Wednesday.
Dimapur police rushed to the spot on receiving information from security personnel deployed at Aoyimkum village. Police said a group near Dikoi village and Aoyimkum village exchanged fire lasting around 45 minutes. Police rushed to Dikoi and Aoyimkum villages to investigate. Casualties if any on either side could not be ascertained, police said. (Staff Reporter)
NH consultative meet
In view of the border tension, Naga Hoho has convened a consultative meeting with NGOs and farmers of the area on June 7, 10 a.m. at Unity Hall, Naga Council Dimapur. All councilors, NWHD, DNSU, GB union, chairmen of colonies, UNTABA, JAC, FIRMS, Dikoi, Indisen, Rilan and Aoyimkum council chairmen, secretaries with representatives have been requested to attend the proposed meeting.
