Dimapur unit of All Nagaland Taxi Drivers’ Association (ANTA) has warned that private vehicles should not ply as “taxi” between Dimapur and Kohima and that any private vehicle picking up passengers in and around Dimapur would be “strictly dealt with”.

In a press release, ANTA Dimapur unit president Tohozhe Awomi and general secretary Ahoshe Chophi alleged that one Alem Ao had made an attempt on the life of association action committee convener by trying to run over the latter with his Maruti Alto (NL02C-6438) after association members tried to stop him for ferrying passengers on September 6, 2013.

However, the association action committee convener “luckily escaped with minor injuries”, they said. Tohozhe and Ahoshe said the association had warned Alem several times not to use his private vehicle for carrying passengers between Dimapur and Kohima but he turned a deaf ear to the warning. The ANTA Dimapur unit requested the police to book the “culprit”.
