NSCN (K) designated camp at Suruhuto witnessed the first ever free medical camp where over a hundred cadres and people from surrounding village availed the unique programme that was initiated by the Family Planning Association of India (FPAI) Nagaland Branch.
Addressing the gathering before inaugurating the medical camp as the first patient, NSCN (K) military supervisor “lt. gen” Niki Sumi emphasized on the need to combat dreaded diseases such as HIV & AIDS is through awareness and added that if one was aware, the harm by even incurable and fatal diseases can be minimized.
Niki wholeheartedly lauded the initiative of FPAI Nagaland Branch in organizing the medical camp which, he said, was the first of its kind being held inside the designated camp. He hoped that the good gesture shown by the medical team would spread in every corners of Nagaland.
Dr. Dietho Koza, who conducted the Out Patient Department (OPD) on the occasion, stressed on the importance of being aware of one’s status, asserting that only through awareness, one could take effective steps to ensure oneself sound health.
Earlier, FPAI, Nagaland Branch Manager Vincent Belho, in his introductory speech, profusely thanked “lt. gen” Niki Sumi, finance kilonser Hokato Vusshe and their officers and the rank and file of NSCN (K) for extending all-out support, cooperation and assistance in organizing the unique medical camp and also for providing the FPAI team as well as the media persons a unique experience.
Altogether 109 persons, including NSCN (K) cadres and residents from the neighbouring villages availed the free medical service and received free medicines. Around 60 odd persons also registered for medical tests that included blood grouping, HIV tests and counseling.
