Naga People’s Front (NPF) Friday alleged that the real intention of the Congress in its proposed resignation drama was to impose President’s Rule (PR) in Nagaland with the objective to rule the state from “the backdoor” and “loot the state’s exchequer.”

The party also said it was “fully prepared” to face elections though it also wanted a solution before the polls.

NPF in a press release also alleged that Congress made effort to “hijack” the agenda of the Naga issue without any sincerity in solving the problem.

Stating that Congress should not take the intelligence of the people for granted by trying to confuse the people, NPF pointed out that UPA government at the Centre was a Congress led government and Congress leaders in Nagaland should be the first persons to “impress” upon the Centre to expedite the Naga peace process even without resorting to the proposed resignation drama. Further alleging that state.

Congress leaders were only interested in grabbing power, NPF said the party seemed to be least interested in bringing about an early political resolution.

Reiterating that NPF was the only party that has committed in its election manifestos of 2003 and 2008 that it was willing to pave way for any “alternative arrangement”, the party asserted that no other political party in the state gave such a political commitment to the people.

NPF has declared that its legislators were prepared to step down at any time if an honorable and acceptable solution was arrived at “before or immediately” after the coming elections.

The party, however, said that it would not allow the “evil designs” of the Congress to fool the Naga people by talking about resignation.

NPF assured that it would not run away from responsibilities but continue to uphold people’s voice and carry out Constitutional duties and responsibilities.
