Chief minister, Neiphiu Rio visited landslide hit areas along National Highway no. 29 in Kohima on August 15.

A DIPR report said that he was accompanied by advisor, Pukhayi; chief secretary, Temjen Toy and other senior officers including officials of the PWD National Highways and R&B.

The chief minister discussed with the officials how best to restore this very important road. He suggested that some temporary passages may be opened as early as possible while also working on a permanent solution.  The chief minister also directed the Power Grid Corporation to shift/remove the high tension power lines and tower which were affected by the landslide. Rio, while interacting with the contractors of the four-lane highway also urged them to expedite the work and complete the process before the allocated time.
