The Chakhesang Students’ Union Dimapur (CSUD) celebrated its 29th Freshers’ Day & Social Gathering under the theme, ‘Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow’ at Western Chakhesang Hoho conference Hall, Chakhesang colony, Dimapur, on September 22.

A press release by CSUD general secretary, Sedelo T Vadeo stated that managing director of the People’s Channel, Rozelle Mero, in her address as the guest speaker asserted that education needed to be a skill-oriented learning. Reflecting on the theme, she said what a person learns today through experience would help lead people tomorrow. “Be accountable of your mistakes. It’s okay to make mistakes. You learn from it but don’t repeat the same mistake”, she added.

Mero also encouraged students to adopt the habit of learning how to work without depending on others. She said many young Nagas have the habit of depending on others even when they can do it themselves. She ended her address by advising students to honour the hard work of their parents and learn how to appreciate their efforts.

Dietho Rhakho, president, Western Chakhesang Hoho, in his exhortation, encouraged students to partake in quality education by involving more in social activities. He stated that students must be useful citizens in society and encouraged them to be more outspoken, take advantage of opportunities, and work more with students from different communities.
