Meeting on state wide social work held in Kohima

A coordination meeting in regard to the mass social work, convened by the Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, was held at the DC’s Conference Hall on September 26. The meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner was also attended by advisor of Rural Development, Dr. Nicky Kire; advisor of  Veterinary & AH, R. Khing; district heads, officers and NGOs.

According to a DIPR report, Dr. Nicky Kire said that keeping in line with the Swachh Bharat Day and in commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2 and along with the coming Hornbill Festival; the chief minister of Nagaland wishes to have a proper social work drive conducted all over the state. 

He requested all the departments and individuals to take responsibility together and give their best efforts to bring change in keeping the city clean. He also requested all the assigned departments and individual concerned to take measures wherever plantation drives were carried out for beautification and also to take pro-active steps in clearing things in regard to house construction materials dumped at the road site.

Chairing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner informed the gathering that the meeting has been convened to chalk out work distribution and an action plan in view of the ensuing state wide social work. The DC also informed the house that the social work will start with wards/colonies in town, administrative headquarters, sub-divisions and villages on September 29. 

In this connection, he requested all the administrative officers to hold coordination meetings in their respective areas. He said that the primary focus of the social work would be cleaning of drainage. He also asked the sector magistrates to tie up with the colony chairmen and pre-identify major areas to be attended to during the social work. 

The DC also requested all the designated departments to make necessary arrangements for collection of debris & waste and dispose them off at the KMC dumping site. He also requested the NGOs to plan their activities to address the primary focus in consultation with the concerned council or panchayat.    

The DC hoped that the mass social work in all the designated locations by the assigned departments/wards and colonies would be successful. 

The Social work on September 29 will commence from 7 a.m. in all the wards/colonies and designated locations.
