AR extends assistance to KODH

As part of its social service, Assam Rifles has facilitated infrastructural extension to the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home (KODH) in 2006, besides recurring assistance in kind. 

According to PRO, HQ IGAR (N), AR has also taken up infrastructural assistance of Rs. 9.5 lakh and is likely to be completed by December 2018. Since its inception, 800 children from different parts of Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar have been blessed to be a part of KHOD, most of them are employed in varied professions. The home presently accommodates 93 children comprising 26 girls and 67 boys.

The orphanage is run by Neibanuo Angami. She said that running KHOD was a collective effort of the people of Nagaland. 

PRO said that Neibanuo is also one of India’s 100 women achievers honoured by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development in 2016. 

She acknowledged the association and contribution of the army and Assam Rifles with the orphanage home. She further said that Assam Rifles has been like an extended family of KHOD ever since it was founded, the release added.
