A team comprising several senior State government officials carried out a joint spot verification of land belonging to District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) here on Tuesday.
Comprising DHD medical superintendent Dr Z Kheshito Zhimo, additional director of health & family welfare Dr Savino, Dimapur extra assistant commissioner (revenue) Tsidi, LSRO Dimapur, Head DB, senior doctors and staff of DHD, the team carried out inspection of the land belonging to DHD that has become a centre for major dispute over conflicting ownership claims.
Carried out primarily to verify occupants settled on the land belonging to the district hospital legally, the inspection team verified 15 of the 18 occupants, who are patta holders, during the drive. The remaining three could not be verified as per the order of Gauhati High Court.
The inspection followed a status report submitted by the hospital authority on October 20, 2018 to chief minister Neiphiu Rio regarding encroachment of the hospital land by private parties.
It may be recalled that health & family welfare minister S Pangnyu Phom had warned of action against staff of the department who had allegedly encroached land belonging to the district hospital.
Most of the occupants/encroachers are staff or retired staff of DHD.
The land of the hospital spreads over an area of 55,198 square metres.
