In an unfortunate accident, a fire engine while rushing to douse the fire that broke out at a house in lower Chandmari colony here Saturday met with an accident leaving five fire brigade personnel injured, two grievously.
According to sources, the fire engine turned turtle at a taxi stand junction and damaged a local taxi and private gypsy. Among the injured, two persons were admitted at Bethel hospital ICU while the one who broke his leg and other two who suffered minor injury were also admitted there.
Following the accident, another two fire engines were pressed into service.
The fire that broke out around 10 a.m. completely destroyed a three-room wooden house with CGI sheet roof, police said. No casualty was reported.
